We do not have online ordering since the shipping for each order will be different depending on the amount of flowers and distance involved. To order please use the Contact form on our website. We hope to have online ordering available in January 2011.
For the past few years we have been sold out of fresh cut peonies by the end of March or early April. We recommend ordering as early as possible.
For a Saturday wedding or event we will ship as follows:
1) If we are shipping to your florist we will ship so that the flowers arrive on Wednesday.
2) If we are shipping to an individual we will ship so that the flowers arrive on Thursday.
The reason we ship a day earlier to florists is because the florist will have a cooler and better facilities to care for the flowers. For Friday events we will ship so that the flowers arrive one day earlier (Tuesday to florists and Wednesdays for individuals)
Of course we can. Please provide the following information about your florist:
We also recommend that you talk to your florist and make sure they are ok with your ordering flowers directly us. Most florists will be ok with this and will charge you an hourly rate for arranging the flowers.
We have been fortunate and have had very few problems with shipping of our peonies. If there is a problem with late delivery causing the flowers to spoil we will reship flowers to you and will file a claim with the shipper ourselves.
When possible we use Express Mail through the US Post Office. We have had good success using the Post Office and for overnight delivery their rates are usually half the cost of Fedex or UPS. Express Mail does not provide overnight delivery to all zip codes so in this case we would have to use Fedex or UPS. Sometimes florists will prefer Fedex or UPS delivery. We are flexible and will use your preferred carrier. Once the flowers have been shipped we will send you tracking information.
No, we do not require a deposit.
8. Can you provide peonies for a May 30 wedding?
No,generally not. For a May 30 date we would have to ship the flowers on May 27 to allow time for you to receive them and for the flowers to be in water for a couple of days to open. There has only been one year where we have had flowers this early. We do not accept orders for any firm date before the first full week of June has passed. For 2009 the first date we are accepting orders for is June 5. For 2010 that date will be June 5.
9. Can you provide peonies for July weddings?
We accept a very limited amount of orders for the first weekend of July. For 2009 the latest date we can provide flowers is July 4. For 2010 the last date we can accept orders for is July 3. We are not able to supply peonies for any date beyond those. To find peonies for July dates try to find a grower in a northern location like Canada or Alaska where the peonies bloom later in the season.
After opening the package use a sharp scissors and cut a fresh stem on each stem preferably on an angle and place the flowers in water. For a large quantity of flowers 5 gallon buckets work best. Use one bucket for each 1.5 dozen of flowers. Keep the flowers out of direct sunlight. If it is very hot outside you can turn your air conditioning up a little. In general heat and warmth helps the flowers to open and cold helps to preserve them. If they are opening too fast make the room colder, if they are not opening fast enough then make the room warmer.
If you are transporting the flowers by car to the wedding location they can travel for a few or several hours with no problem. Do not leave the flowers in a hot parked car and they will be fine.
We recommend that you arrange the flowers the day before the wedding or other special event.
